La Rochelle - Île de Ré
Le Bois-Plage is located on the southern shore
of the island. It enjoys a unique coastline: 5 km
of white sand extending up to La Couarde, to the west.
The dunes of the Gollandières beach are gorgeous at
sunset. The 19 meters high Peu-des-Aumonts dune is
the highest point in the island. The local wine-growing
cooperative sells its products directly (Pineau, Cognac,
Rosé, red and white wines). Among the 110 windmills
that were on the island, the Bel Air windmill is the only
one that kept its wings.
